Tattoo Removal FAQ's
What Results Will I See?*
Results vary person-to-person depending on the tattoo treated, but lightning will be seen each visit. Black, red, orange, yellow and green ink colors all respond well to treatment. Lighter color tattoos such as purple, teal and light pink are harder to treat and achieve 100 percent clearance of the tattoo – although you should expect to see nice lightening. We cannot guarantee that all tattoos will disappear completely 100%.
Treatments are spaced 6-8 weeks apart, depending on your skin type and where you are in your treatment cycle. Generally, a person will receive 3-6 treatments, however, the number of treatments depends on the amount, type of ink used, and the depth of the ink in the skin, as well as the location of the tattoo, and individual health considerations. Black ink usually fades the quickest out of multi-colored designs. There are no guarantees as to how many treatments you will need or how much lightening you will see with each treatment, but you can expect to see lightening with each treatment.
Is There Any Downtime?*
In the first 24 hours, you will want to apply ice periodically. You need to ensure the area is not rubbed or scratched. You will also need to rest and elevate the treated area, as well as limit activities. Avoid any soaking of the area including steam rooms, saunas, swimming pools, and pedicure bowls until fully healed. Keep the tattoo moist with balm, and avoid scratching or rubbing the tattoo. After 24 hours, and until the tattoo area is healed, you can resume all activities except swimming. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds at all times during your treatment course and in general in the area 4 weeks pre/post-treatment. Additional instructions will be given at your session.
Laser Tattoo Removal
Laser tattoo removal is becoming more popular these days. What seemed like a good idea many years ago may not be now after we have matured and our skin has aged.
The preferred, most common, and best method for removing tattoos at ENT Aesthetics is laser tattoo removal. Lasers have been used for many years for tattoo removal, some with minimal to moderate success and some without any success at all. Successful removal of a tattoo depends greatly upon the type of laser being used. Many lasers are available today for tattoo removal, but not all lasers have the same results. Therefore, it is important to be treated using the most technologically-advanced laser on the market. Depending on the size, color, and location of the tattoo, we will choose the specific combination of laser wavelength and energy that will work best for your tattoo.
Tattoo ink is removed by using specific wavelengths of laser energy that passes into the skin, but is absorbed only by the ink. This causes the tattoo ink to break into tiny particles which can then be removed by the body’s own immune system. Our laser provides maximum tattoo removal while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.
